I grew up in Florida...and my grandfather would've dropped a line in a mud puddle just to see what might be lurking there.

I'll never forget my first fish...a flounder. He said it was the biggest flounder he'd ever seen and took a picture with my Brownie camera "for the record books"...took me years to realize that probably wasn't quite true, LOL!

I was just listening/watching a show on the possible closures/ban the other day. it was something about what they call expanding the "Dead Zone" for limited no fishing zones. Even talked about Shrimp boats required to have tracking GPS so they could watch where they were fishing. I'll look it up and see what I can find on the net.

We already have a snapper closure problem in the gulf. My son's and i went fishing during that closure period, and it seemed, for every keeper we pulled in, we caught 10 to 15 big Red snapper first. i keep wondering how they come up with species depletion counts. Makes no sense, especially when all your catching is the banned fish. :)

Problems. Lots of problems.

"Rebuilt is now collapse — the crisis is a falsity," said Tarr. "Our choice is to enable that behavior, or stand up and say we won't accept this. (Accepting) means consigning us in foreseeable future to more faulty science."

This issue, fishery, has bi partisan support, and they are all demanding real science.

It's not happening.

The problem is that once any kind of regulation is in place, the government says "problem solved", closes the book, and never revisits the issue to see if the regulation is still necessary. IMO every regulation needs periodic review.

She's on the battle front, and she's used to having things taken away, so she's a scrapper.

The fish cops really were a force of destruction, with their own lawyers, and they paid the judges from the same fine money that they bought the boat from.

The lawyers would offer to settle cases without going to trial and would say, we'll settle for $60,000, and if they fought it the fines could be $140,000 if they lost. Why would anyone think they could win when the judges were paid by the fine!
